St. Mary’s College of Commerce & Management Studies, Thuruthiply, in association with the Lions Club, Perumbavoor and the Kerala Motor Vehicle Department (MVD), organized a Traffic Awareness Programme on 24 July 2026 at 11:00 AM in the College Seminar Hall. The programme was conducted with the objective of creating awareness among students about road safety, traffic regulations, and responsible driving practices.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Mr. Basil Varghese, Manager of St. Mary’s College. Fr. Ebin K. Alias, Vice Principal, presided over the function and highlighted the importance of road safety awareness among the youth. The programme was formally inaugurated by Mr. Biju Issac, Regional Transport Officer (Enforcement), Ernakulam.
An informative Traffic Awareness Class was conducted by Mr. K. G. Dileep Kumar, Motor Vehicle Inspector (RTD), who explained essential traffic rules, road signs, safe driving practices, and the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts. He also stressed the dangers of using mobile phones while driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. An online traffic quiz competition was conducted by Mr. P. N. Vinod Kumar, MVI (Enforcement), to assess the participants’ understanding of traffic regulations and encourage active participation.
